Doha has been awarded the Middle East’s leading business travel destination every year by World Travel Awards since 2011 – it is therefore not surprising for W Doha to target the modern business traveller with amenities and services aimed towards those valuable guests! It is conveniently located in the West Bay financial district and only a 20 min drive from Hamad International Airport which makes it rather attractive for the international business traveler as does their 24-hour gym, 30m lap pool, their whenever/whatever service and great dining options.
The design of the hotel is as trendy as it gets with dark and light color contrasts as well as several blue lamps which are hanging from the high ceiling in the lobby. The lobby is also where the whatever/whenever desk is located – a 24-hour concierge service that is conveniently accessible via What’s App.
The ‘Living Room’ as they call it is adjacent to the lobby – a sleek chill out area, featuring comfy sofa’s in-between black wooden bookshelves where travellers have the opportunity to sit back and relax. The hotel certainly has a young and energetic vibe which is reflected in the modern design throughout the hotel.
Another very modern feature is the keyless access to the rooms – using an app on the phone. The rooms also feature an I-pod docking station with Bluetooth connectivity, a work desk and of course a Nespresso machine all in the same modern design as the rest of the hotel.
The pool area on the second-floor features sun loungers, sofas and a poolside bar for the sun-hungry visitors and would be even greater if it had a private beach.
The wet pool is a great place to cool off on a hot day or to have a swim workout in the long lap pool.
The poolside bar offers healthy food and drink options – served directly to you without the need to get up.
On the same floor as the pool is the Fit Gym, open 24/7, it is well equipped for the health conscious traveller with the newest machines, personal TV’s, punching bags as well as yoga and pilates equipment.
W Doha offers three different restaurants on site – La Spiga by Papermoon featuring Italian cuisine, Market by Jean Georges which is also where breakfast is served and Spice Market an amazing restaurant serving South Asian Cuisine (full review coming soon!). For lighter snacks, coffee and pastries W Cafe on the main floor is the place to go.
Right next to W Cafe is where Teuscher Chocolates of Switzerland sell their sweet treats from around the world.
From 7.30 pm hotel guests flock to the stylish Wahm lounge for cocktails.
Wahm has beautiful sofa areas to relax in as well as spaces directly at the bar where we decided to settle for a couple of cocktails before dinner.
My husband ordered a Gin & Tonic (left) whereas I went for a Meet Yuzu (right)- a concussion of Absolut, yuzu, basil, mint, cucumber, fresh lime and soda.
A little later at night Crystal lounge – W-Doha’s own nightclub opens its door. It is very popular on the weekends where DJ’s entertain young jetsetters until the early morning hours.
