Its prime location with stunning views over the River Thames makes the Bingham really stand out. What makes it even more special is the attentive and impeccable service, the tasteful interior and most importantly the outstanding food that is served in their award winning restaurant. The Bingham can be easily reached by foot from Richmond town centre – best along the beautiful footpath that follows the river.
The dining room has a light and airy flair with beautiful wooden floors and large french doors that open up onto a small balcony. The ambience of the elegant yet contemporary restaurant is neither too formal nor informal and just the right balance between the two. The best tables of course are the ones by the window with views over the river or on a nice sunny day on the balcony.
The modern British cuisine served at the Bingham is locally sourced and consists of the finest sustainable ingredients. The menu changes in tune with the seasons which is something I love – ingredients are just at their best and more flavourful when harvested at the right time of the year. On our last visit we opted for their three course Market Menu. I fancied something that reflects autumn and for that reason chose the chestnut soup with truffle cream which was absolutely delicious and a wonderful taste of the season.
My husband opted for the black bean cassoulet with ham and a chilli lime salsa. I nearly chose that as well as I love beans and the fresh topping worked so perfectly with the more substantial body of the dish (of course I could not resist to have a try!)
For mains we both had the confit duck leg with savoy cabbage and butternut squash. Confit duck is one of those dishes that I cannot resist when it is on the menu. It was beautifully cooked with the all important crispy skin. An absolute winner!
We shared two desserts between the two of us. The picture above was rice pudding, summer berries and pistachio ice cream.
The other dessert we ordered was the home granola, peach compote, apricot and frozen yoghurt. We were not able to finish our deserts as the previous two courses were already quite generous in portion. Their 2-3 course Market Menu is served Mondays to Saturdays between 12 and 2.30 pm and at £15-£20 is incredibly good value for money!
Bingham’s cocktail lounge bar is as tastefully designed as the restaurant with beautiful large flower bouquets and high ceilings – the perfect hangout after an indulgent lunch or pre-dinner cocktail.
Impressively, their cocktails change with the season as well.
Drinks can be enjoyed inside as well as on their georgous balcony.
The balcony overlooks Bingham’s beautifully maintained garden as well as the river in the background.
My cocktail of choice was called Rose Fantasia which was a combination of pear infused vodka, lychee liquor, creme de rose, lemon juice and a rose bud which sat on a little orange island.
