Spice Market is located in the very trendy W Hotel in Doha and just as buzzing and vibrant as the hotel. Dishes are inspired by South-east Asian street food by Jean-Georges Vongerichten and absolutely delicious! We enjoyed the food at Spice Market so much that we visited the restaurant twice during our stay in Doha – once for a romantic dinner and the other time we enjoyed their incredible weekend brunch with live Jazz music!
The interior of the dimly lit restaurant is very stylish with mainly dark wood and black furniture. Red lanterns created a warm atmosphere while giving the restaurant a grant look. The service was absolutely fantastic from the start – Nebi, the restaurant manager and Sophia the assistant manager made our experience even more pleasant.
I would also like to mention our amazing waiter Kasun who helped us select dishes from their extensive menu, creating the most wonderful dinner experience. First, we enjoyed a few papadum’s with spicy tomato jam before we were served our first starter (image above) – Black Pepper Prawns served with dried pineapple which counterbalanced the spice beautifully. It is one of their signature dishes and a great way to start the meal.
Followed by Tuna Tartare – always a favourite of mine!
Another one of their signature dishes is Chicken Samosa which worked beautifully in combination with the coriander dip it came with.
The night we visited was sushi evening and Kasun highly recommended to try the Shredded Crab Roll, served slightly warm, it was seriously delicious with a crispy outside shell.
The Salmon Teriyaki Sashimi which we had next was beautiful as well.
|As was the ginger Rice with a fried egg on top which gave it a great look!|
For the meat dish we opted for the Char Grilled Chicken which had a citrusy note to it.
We finally decided to have two different desserts – the Coconut Pandan,
as well as their signature dessert – Oval Kulfi which was my favourite. It was a classic combination of sweet banana which had a crispy caramel top and chocolate – Divine!
|Our weekend brunch at Spice Market was as spectacular as our dinner experience!|
Live music was played by a band in the background with a live singer and the variety of food on offer was excellent. There were countless stations with all sorts of South-east Asian specialities and most incredible were the different live stations where guests were able to watch chefs prepare their favourite flavour combinations.
Further in the back of the restaurant was a station completely dedicated to sushi!
They also had an amazing selection of desserts!
Heaven for people with a sweet tooth 😉
