POD Camps Bay is located in one of Cape Town’s most desirable neighbourhoods, offering a tranquil urban sanctuary which is only a short walk from Camps Bay’s stunning beachfront, stylish restaurants and quirky shops. The modern, minimalistic design with its clean lines, warming wooden accents and large glass walls create a relaxing yet stylish and sophisticated atmosphere. With only 17 rooms it is a beautifully relaxed and quiet boutique hotel that we found to be the perfect place to be based during our stay in Cape Town!
Camps Bay (and the hotel) is overlooked by Lion’s Head Mountain which offers the most stunning views of Cape Town and its surroundings in all directions! The hike up Lion’s Head is very popular with locals and something not to be missed especially when you stay at POD. The views of the city bowl, the Twelve Apostles, the ocean as well as table mountain are breathtaking!

POD offers different room categories from mini mountain view rooms to larger deluxe corner suites with ocean views. What all rooms have in common, however, is the beautiful, modern design, combining elements of granite, slate, warming wood and glass in a unique and elegant way. Rooms also come with a complimentary mini bar, Nespresso and tea station as well as a DVD Player with a selection of DVDs available at reception. I even read reviews that guests got popcorn sent up to their room together with their DVDs which is a lovely touch, however, our DVDs came without popcorn but thankfully the complimentary treats in the room made for delicious snacks 🙂
The spacious communal areas offer plenty of indoor and outdoor seating arrangements, like the covered outdoor space at the end of the lap pool with its gorgeous distressed tree-trunk coffee tables which also served as outdoor seating at breakfast.
POD’s serves a good breakfast with hot options available from the menu like POD’s special – scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. Cold options are served at the buffet with a variety of fruit, pastries, cheese and ham as well as a healthy smoothie option that changes daily. POD does not have a restaurant onsite but offers a great list of restaurant recommendations on their website.
The hotel’s stylish bar opens up towards the lap pool and offers partial views of Camps Bay Beach through its large floor to ceiling windows and is the perfect place to sit back and relax while enjoying a few drinks.
The comfortable loungers on the pool deck offer an exclusive place to watch sunsets.
Alternatively, the beach is just a few minutes down the road to have a long stroll while the sun sets over the ocean.
